Edgewood travelled to Cloverdale and shot the proverbial lights out, leading from start-to-finish in an impressive 73 – 59 victory over the Clovers. The Mustangs connected on nearly 67% of their overall field goal attempts (28 for 42), and at one point were 10 of 12 from the 3-pt line before missing their last six from behind the arc to finish at a still-good 55% clip from long-range.
Edgewood combined their shooting prowess with a defensive game plan that held Cloverdale’s leading scorer to well under his average, and many of the points he managed to get were in the 4th quarter after the game had been decided.
Caden Huttenlocker led the Mustang attack with a career-high 29 points, while Coleman Sater had another strong overall game with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. In addition, Zeke Powell chipped in 13 points, Landon Ringler scored 9 (also a career high), Sean Sims had 6, and Henry Doering had 2 points to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
The Mustangs next play on Saturday, December 26 when they travel to Terre Haute North to face the host school in the opening round of the Wabash Valley Classic.
