Ethan Vecrumba was an RBI machine on Friday, driving in six on three hits to lead Edgewood past Shakamak 11-3 on Friday. Vecrumba drove in runs on a home run in the first, a single in the third, and a single in the fifth.
Edgewood opened up scoring in the first inning. Vecrumba drove in three when he homered.
Edgewood notched three runs in the fifth inning. Edgewood’s big inning was driven by a single by Vecrumba and an error on a ball put in play by Cooper Thacker.
Luke Hayden pitched Edgewood to victory. He allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking zero. Thacker and Sam Kido entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Trevor Miller took the loss for Shakamak. He surrendered six runs on five hits over two innings, striking out one.
Edgewood hit two home runs on the day. Vecrumba had a long ball in the first inning. Thacker put one out in the second inning.
Edgewood totaled ten hits. Vecrumba and Joe Kido each collected multiple hits for Edgewood. Vecrumba went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Edgewood in hits.
Ethan Burdette led Shakamak with one hit in three at bats.
