For the second night in a row, the Mustangs started slowly. And for the second night in a row, their comeback attempt fell just short in a hard-fought 68 – 60 loss against 6th-ranked Sullivan in the Wabash Valley Classic. Edgewood was within one point, at 61-60, with less than a minute to play, but a couple of untimely turnovers forced them to foul, and Sullivan was able to knock down their free throws to seal the victory.
The Mustangs were led once again by Caden Huttenlocker and Coleman Sater, who scored 20 and 19 points respectively. Landon Ringler chipped in with 8 points, Aiden Georges added 6, Zeke Powell had 5 (to go along with 4 assists), and Sean Sims had 2 to round out the scoring for Edgewood.
Sater led the Mustangs’ effort on the glass, pulling down 6 rebounds, and also dished out 4 assists. Coleman’s strong play throughout the tournament was rewarded as he earned a spot on the All-Tourney team.
Edgewood won’t get a lot of time to rest, as they are back in action on Saturday evening when they travel to North Putnam.
