Edgewood dropped a tough 55 – 46 contest with Greencastle in the semifinals of the Wabash Valley Classic. The Mustangs were slow out of the gate, falling behind 17 – 5 after one quarter, but steadied in the 2nd quarter to trail by only 9 at the half. After the break, Edgewood then came all the way back behind Caden Huttenlocker’s 11 3rd quarter points to tie it at 35 heading into the final period. Unfortunately, the Mustangs’ shots stopped falling, and Greencastle was able to put the game away by hitting 13 of 15 FT’s down the stretch.
Huttenlocker led Edgewood with 19 points, while Coleman Sater added 18 points and 7 rebounds. Zeke Powell had 5 points and Sean Sims had 4 to complete the scoring for the Mustangs.
Edgewood will try to bounce back against Sullivan in the tournament’s 3rd place game at 6:00 PM on Wednesday.
