The boys Varsity Football team hosted Indian Creek on Friday night and fell to the Braves by a score of 30-15. It was a one score game for most of the game, but the Mustangs could not break through on the Braves.
After a scoreless first quarter, Indian Creek struck first in the second quarter with a touchdown run, making the score 8-0. Edgewood was able to answer later in the quarter after recovering a fumbled punt on the Indian Creek 5 yard line. Senior Levon Bellemy followed the Harrison Pittsford fumble recovery with a rushing touchdown to tie the score at 8-8. To end the half, the Braves scored a touchdown, making the score 14-8 at half.
In the third quarter, Indian Creek struck first increasing their lead to 22-8. Edgewood answered with another Bellemy rushing touchdown to close the gap to 22-15. Indian Creek was just too much, taking the ball on the next drive and finishing the scoring for the night with a touchdown making the score 30-15.
The Mustangs will be back in action next Friday, when they travel to Brown County High School to take on the Eagles. It will be a battle for the Hoof and Talon Trophy. The game is at 7:00.
