Edgewood jumped out to an early lead, and was never seriously threatened in a 49 – 36 victory over West Vigo in the second round of the Wabash Valley Classic at Terre Haute South. The Mustangs’ defense held the Vikings to 33% shooting (16 of 48) from the field including a frigid 3 of 18 from 3-pt range. Meanwhile, Edgewood connected on 51% of their FG tries (20 of 39), propelling them to the semi-finals of the tournament.
Coleman Sater continued his strong play, scoring 17 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists to lead the Mustangs. In addition, Zeke Powell followed up Saturday’s game winning basket with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Finally, Caden Huttenlocker had 8 points, Henry Doering scored 4, Aiden Georges had 3 points (to go along with 4 boards), Sean Sims also had 3 points, and Landon Ringler added 2 points to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
The Mustangs will try to advance to the championship game (and avenge an earlier-season loss) when they face Greencastle at 7:30 PM on Tuesday.
