The first basket of the game was a 3-pointer by Brown County, but after that it was all Edgewood in a dominant 70 – 37 victory. The Mustangs’ defense limited the Eagles to only 36% (12 of 33) shooting for the game, while the Mustangs’ offense was on fire out of the gate– hitting 18 of 28 (64%) of their shots in the first half, and 28 of 51 (55%) for the game.
Ten different Edgewood players scored, led by Caden Huttenlocker with 19 points and Coleman Sater with 13. Zeke Powell added 10 points– all in the first half as the Mustangs were building their lead. Completing the scoring for Edgewood was Aiden Georges and Landon Ringler with 7 points each, Xander Hammonds with 4, Brayden Robinson and Sean Sims with 3 points apiece, and Henry Doering and Andrew Blessinger with 2 points each.
Sater pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds while Zeke Powell grabbed 5, and both of those players also dished out 4 assists.
The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday evening when they host South Putnam in another crucial Western Indiana Conference game.
