Edgewood opened Sectional play with a hard-fought 65 – 57 victory over South Vermillion at Owen Valley. The Mustangs threatened to blow the game open in both the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but timely 3-point shooting by the Wildcats kept the game close. However, Edgewood hit 14 of 19 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter to seal the win and secure a spot in Friday’s semifinal game against West Vigo.
Trevor Taylor scored 17 points, while Coleman Sater added 14 and Derek Farkas had 13 points off the bench to pace the Mustangs’ attack. In addition, Joe Kido scored 8 points, Cam Banister had 7 points before leaving with an injury, Logan Slabaugh scored 3, Houston Holmes had 2, and Tate Balcam had 1 point to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
