Jordan Richey was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound on Friday, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Edgewood past Eastern Greene 12-0.
Edgewood secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning. The offensive onslaught came from home runs by Ethan Vecrumba and Cooper Thacker, a walk by Joe Kido, and a single by Harrison Pittsford.
Edgewood opened up scoring in the first inning, when Coleman Sater singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Edgewood notched seven runs in the sixth inning. Kido, Pittsford, Vecrumba, and Thacker all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Richey earned the victory on the mound for Edgewood. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out 12 and walking zero.
Crowe took the loss for Eastern Greene. He went one inning, allowing two runs on one hit.
Edgewood socked four home runs on the day. Luke Hayden went yard in the fourth inning. Vecrumba had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Thacker had a dinger in the fifth and sixth innings.
Edgewood collected nine hits. Thacker and Sam Kido each had multiple hits for Edgewood. Kido and Thacker all had two hits to lead Edgewood. Edgewood tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Kido led the way with four.
