The Edgewood varsity jumped on top of Eastern Greene early and were never seriously threatened in a 71 -59 victory. The win capped a 4 game winning streak for the Mustangs to close out the regular season before Sectional play begins next week.
Edgewood shot a blistering 73% from 2-point range (and 62% overall) as they were able to drive to the basket for several point-blank opportunities. In addition, the Mustangs connected on 12 of 13 from the free throw line to keep the host Thunderbirds at bay.
Coleman Sater scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead Edgewood, while Derek Farkas added 19 points. In addition, Trevor Taylor contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, Sam Kido scored 6, and a trio of Mustangs–Parker Harrington, Zeke Powell, and Caden Huttenlocker–had 5 points each. Finally, Aiden Georges added 2 free throws to complete the scoring for Edgewood.
The Mustangs open Sectional play on Wednesday evening when they host West Vigo.
