While it wasn’t always pretty, Edgewood won a ‘grind it out’ 59 – 47 victory over South Putnam, and improved their conference record to 5 – 1 in the process. The Mustangs gradually built up a 12 point lead at the half, and though they couldn’t blow the game open, they maintained their double-digit margin through most of the 2nd half to make sure the outcome was never in doubt. As South Putnam was forced to foul late in the game, Edgewood responded by knocking down 10 out of 12 second-half free throw attempts.
Coleman Sater poured in 27 points (on 8 of 9 from the field and 10 of 11 at the line) to pace the Mustangs offensively. In addition, Zeke Powell scored 12 points, Caden Huttenlocker had 9, Sean Sims scored 6 points, Aiden Georges had 3 and Landon Ringler had 2.
Sater had 6 rebounds and Henry Doering added 4 to lead Edgewood on the glass, and Sater and Huttenlocker each had 3 assists.
The Mustangs will look to continue their winning ways when they host conference rival Owen Valley on Thursday.
